We've prepared a guide to a smoothing facial serum containing Amino-Peptide Specped®, a compound that helps smooth wrinkles and minimize the signs of aging. And to make matters worse, we've got two serum variants straight for you - so you can choose between the hydrating properties of hyaluronic acid or its alternative, Vegeluron gel.
Below you will find an overview of the raw materials needed for the production of both types of serums. Whether you choose to use hyaluronic acid or Vegeluron, the process differs only minimally. Choose the variant that is closer to your skin. However, both smoothing serums will provide you with effective hydration combined with smoothingamino-Peptide Specped®, plus the addition of caffeine to help reduce the signs of skin fatigue.

1. disinfect all utensils, containers and packaging, e.g. with ethanol.2.in the case of hyaluronic acid serum production , weigh the Phase B raw materials into a container and mix well until a thick slurry is formed.3.in a separate container, mix the phase A raw materials and pour them over the phase B raw materials after mixing well.4.in the case of serum production with Vegeluron gel, mix the Phase A raw materials except the Vegeluron gel in one container. Once the caffeine has dissolved, you can add the Vegeluron gel, stirring well until the gel is completely combined with the other raw materials.5.regardless of which serum you are making, check the pH of the product at this point, for example with litmus papers. If it is too high, adjust it with lactic acid tobetween 4,5 and 5,5. However, the amount of lactic acid given is only a guide; add the acid drop by drop and keep checking the pH.6.after adjusting the pH, mix the preservative into the product.
Below are a few tricks to make it easier for you to make a smoothing serum. Whether you opt for the kind with hyaluronic acid or Vegeluron gel, right here you will find tips on how to make it easier for yourself or how to adjust the pH properly. When making a facial serum with hyaluronic acid, it will take a little longer to get a clear product without gel clumps. Hyaluronic acid usually needs a day or two to fully hydrateand form a homogeneous gel. Therefore, it is advisable to let the hyaluronic acid serum sit in a foil-covered container overnight before filling it into your chosen container.Add the Vegeluron gel to the Phase A ingredients only when the caffeine and Amino-Peptide Specped® are fully mixed. This is because once the gel is added, it will make it more difficult to dissolve the caffeine. Also make sure that the Vegeluron is well combined with the other raw materials otherwise you will not get a homogeneous gel again. In both cases, it is necessary to adjust the pH of the product so that it is closer to the physiological pH of the skin. This is done by adding lactic acid. However, the amount of lactic acid given is only a guide, as the actual amount depends on the accuracy of the dosage, the quality of the raw materials and other factors, so always add lactic acid drop by drop. Mix each drop thoroughly into the serum and check the pH. Note that any substitution or change in the proportion of a particular ingredient in the recipe will result in a change in the amount of hyaluronic acid required. Both serums provide significant hydration to the skin without a greasy feeling on the skin. After applying a larger amount of hyaluronic acid serum, a fine film may appear on the skin after the serum has been absorbed. We did not observe this when applying the serum with Vegeluron. In both cases, however, there was a more pronounced feeling of skin tightening. If this sensation is uncomfortable, you can apply your favorite cream after the serum has been absorbed into your skin.

The basis for the production of most cosmetic products is demineralised water. Demineralised wateris free of minerals that could interfere with the stability of the product, create cloudiness or reduce the effectiveness of the preservative. Therefore, do not confuse it with regular tap water even after boiling. However, you can substitute demineralised water for distilled water or reach for floral hydrolates. Hydrolates are obtained by steam distillation and are thus stripped of minerals. What's more, they contain valuable botanicals that your skin will appreciate. Remember to always check the pH, as floral hydrolats will affect the amount of lactic acid used.
Thanks to the white rose hydrolate, the serum gets a delicate floral scent and the active ingredients come fromfrom this plant. As mentioned, hydrolats are an alternative to demineralized water, so don't be afraid to use them. However, if you want a product without any fragrance, replace the hydrolates with demineralised water.
The main active ingredient for smoothing and rejuvenating the skin is Amino-Peptide Specped®. This peptide helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles as it has similar effects to Botox. Amino-Peptide Specped® temporarily blocks the release of neurotransmitters, thus easing the contraction of facial muscles and making the skin above them look smoother. However, unlike Botox, Amino-Peptide Specped® provides only a subtle smoothing effect and the product must be used for at least a few weeks for more significant results.Amino-Peptide Specped® can be omitted from the product, but you will lose the smoothing effects of the serum. In addition, it is possible to play around with the dosage, but do not exceed the maximum recommended dose, otherwise skin irritation may occur.
A great ingredient for getting rid of the signs of tired skin is caffeine. This water-soluble ingredient is typically found in skincare products, especially various creams for bags and under-eye circles. Try a serum containing caffeine to revitalise and give you fresher-looking skin. Caffeine can beomitted from the product, but you'll miss out on its active effects.
Glycerin has been used in the smoothing serum to hydrate the skin. This substance helps to improve water retention in the skin and is also important in products containing hyaluronic acid. Glycerin helps to accelerate the hydration of hyaluronic acid, which helps it to form a homogeneous gel without lumps more quickly. Therefore, do not omit glycerine from the product. It is definitely worth having this raw material on hand, as glycerine is included in a large number of water-based cosmetic products, so you will not regret buying glycerine.
The basic gel-forming and moisturizing ingredient in a smoothing facial serum is hyaluronic acid. We have chosen hyaluronic acid with a medium molecular weight, as this weight combines the thickening effects with the moisturizing effects perfectly. If you want a product that is slightly more viscous, replace MMW hyaluronic acid with its HMW (high molecular weight) version.
Analternative to hyaluronic acid is Vegeluron gel. This raw material is sold already in the form of a ready-made water-based gel, so there is no need to wait for the gel to hydrate. Vegeluron gel is also called a hyaluronic acid substitute for its great moisturizing properties. Moreover, even when diluted to 50%, its viscosity does not drop significantly. Therefore, if you don't like the feeling of hyaluronic acid on your skin, Vegeluron gel may be the right raw material for you.
Lactic acid was chosento adjust the pH in the smoothing serum. This acid is commonly used in the food industry and is already sold in solution form, so there are no worries about dissolving the substance as in the case of citric acid. However, citric acid is an alternative, so if you don't mind having to make the mostyou don't mind having to prepare a 50% aqueous solution of citric acid and then use it to adjust the pH, it is a good substitute for lactic acid.
To prolong the shelf life of the product, the resulting serum must be preserved. The Cosgard preservative was chosen as it is active just below pH 5.5 and so is a great addition to this serum. Other preservatives can be substituted, but make sure that they are active in the final pH of the product, or adjust the pH of the product to match the preservative's activity level. Also be sure to choose a broad spectrum preservative that works against yeast, mould and bacteria.
As mentioned, you can experiment with homemade recipes to achieve the desired properties. However, many factors such as humidity, temperature, quality of ingredients and storage can affect the final result. Before using any raw material to make a cosmetic product, familiarize yourself with its properties, recommended dosage, storage conditions or safe handling. Any raw material may have the potential to cause an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals, so before using a product, we recommend that you find out if you suffer from an allergy to any of the raw materials or the overall product, e.g. by a skin test. If you have very sensitive or very acne-prone skin, or other skin and health problems, we recommend that you consult a medical professionalbefore applying a new product to your skin, whether it is a homemade cosmetic product, a pure raw material or a commercially available product.
