Baking soda (also known as E500ii) or sodium bicarbonate is a white alkaline powder that has a wide range of uses not only in the home, in cooking and cleaning, but also in the manufacture of cosmetic products.

It is used in toothpastes, solid deodorants, bath fizzies, scrubs, washing powders, etc. It is water soluble, insoluble in ethanol.
