Product description

The green glass bottle with a nominal volume of 30 ml and an 18 mm thread is designed for small volumes of cosmetics that are dispensed by the drop or in small doses: face serums, oil blends, tinctures, fragrance compositions, or samples from a larger production run. Green glass filters light, so light-sensitive contents age more slowly. At the same time, the liquid level stays visible, so you can see how much product is left in the bottle. Glass does not react with essential oils, alcohol, or vegetable oils, so it suits contents that would gradually degrade a plastic container.

The pack contains 110 pcs on a tray, which corresponds to a typical production run for a small studio or a supply for workshops and sampling.

What the bottle is suitable for

  • Face and oil serums – a volume of 30 ml matches typical consumption with daily use, and a dropper dispenses precisely.
  • Essential oil blends and fragrance oils – glass does not absorb the scent and does not react with the contents.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass resists alcohol, and the darker tint protects the contents from light.
  • Samples and test batches – when fine-tuning a formulation, 30 ml is enough for a batch to test stability and skin feel over several weeks.
  • Massage oils in a small pack – it also works as a travel size or a gift size.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling, in this case 30 ml. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly higher. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper, pump, or cap, which reach into the neck when screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is filled up to the neck, the contents will overflow when the dropper is inserted and the closure will not seal properly.

When filling oil-based or thicker products, a small funnel or a dosing syringe will help. The neck with a diameter of 18 mm is narrow, and it is difficult to fill from a wide container without a tool.

Choosing a closure

The bottle has an 18/410 neck finish. Closures with the same neck type, that is droppers, fine mist sprayers, pumps, and caps, as well as ready-made sets of a bottle with a closure, are available in the Handymade range. If you combine parts yourself, we recommend checking the seal, the dispensing, and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation. With alcohol-based and oil-based contents, the material of the seal and of the dropper bulb matters.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle in warm water with washing-up liquid, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave it to dry completely upside down. Residual water in the container could dilute an anhydrous product or put a strain on the preservation of a water-based formulation.

Glass withstands cleaning and repeated use without losing its appearance. Once empty, the bottle can be washed and refilled. When changing the contents, it is advisable to disinfect it and replace the dropper or cap if the previous scent has remained in them.

Glass does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature. Let a hot emulsion or a heated anhydrous product cool before filling, and do not put the bottle straight from a cold environment into hot water. It may break if dropped on a hard surface, so an insert or the original tray is suitable for transport.

The packaging is suitable for use with cosmetic products and meets the relevant legislative requirements; you can find the declaration of conformity with the product. Suitability for contact with food is not declared for this bottle. After use, the glass is sorted as glass waste.

Frequently asked questions

Does the green glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Partly, yes. Green glass lets through less light than clear glass, so the contents age more slowly. The most sensitive ingredients, for example oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or citrus essential oils, should still be stored away from direct sunlight. The green tint also keeps the level of the contents visible, so you know how much product you have left.
How much can actually fit into a 30 ml glass bottle?
The bottle is designed to be filled up to the nominal volume of 30 ml. The brimful capacity is slightly higher, but this difference serves as a reserve for the dropper or pump and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill it to the brim, the closure cannot be fitted correctly and the contents will overflow.
Is the 18 mm glass bottle suitable for essential oils and alcohol tinctures?
Yes, glass does not react with essential oils or alcohol and does not absorb the scent. However, the closure matters: the dropper bulb or the cap seal must be resistant to the given contents. With concentrated essential oils, we recommend checking how the chosen dropper behaves during longer contact.
Can the glass bottle be washed and used again?
Yes, glass withstands repeated washing and disinfection without any change in appearance. Once empty, simply wash it in warm water with washing-up liquid, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and leave it to dry completely upside down. When changing the contents, it is better to replace the dropper or cap, as residual scent from the previous product could transfer to the new one.
Which closure fits a glass bottle with an 18/410 neck finish?
Closures with the same 18/410 neck type fit the bottle, that is droppers, fine mist sprayers, pumps, and standard caps with this thread. You can find specific models and ready-made sets of a bottle with a closure in the Handymade range. If you combine parts yourself, we recommend checking the seal and the dispensing with the finished product.
Can warm contents be filled into the glass bottle?
Warm contents, for example a freshly made balm or emulsion, should be left to cool to room temperature before filling. Glass does not tolerate a sudden temperature jump, and a cold bottle may crack when it is heated abruptly. Anhydrous products that solidify are filled while still liquid but already lukewarm, not straight from the pot.
