Simple to prepare, yet very effective - these are also scrub cubes that you can use not only in the bath, but also in the shower. Their preparation is not complicated at all and can be mastered even by beginners. Thanks to the wide range of available colours and scents, you can create scrub cubes exactly to your liking.
To make scrubbing cubes you need a few basic ingredients, first of all scrubbing particles, in our case the scrub is sea salt, then the recipe calls for soap mass and oil. The fragrance and colour are only complementary, but thanks to them you can turn ordinary scrub cubes into an irresistible gift.

1. disinfect all utensils, packaging and containers, for example with ethanol.2. prepare the individual ingredients and the mould in advance - once combined with the other ingredients, the mixture for the peeling cubes solidifies very quickly and you will not have time to weigh the other ingredients.3. weigh the sea salt in one container, the oil mixture, mica powder, glitter and essential oil in another container, and prepare the silicone mould.4.in a third container (heat resistant), weigh out the soap mass. Place the container in the microwave for a few seconds (be careful not to let the soap bubble) or on a water bath until the mass melts.5.immediately add the oil mixture to the melted mass and stir well, then add the salt, stir quickly and immediately fill the prepared mould. The mixture solidifies very quickly after adding the salt and oil, so it is not worth waiting.6. allow the mixture to set, then remove the solid mixture from the mould and you can cut it into smaller pieces or keep the larger ones - and your peeling cubes are ready.
Making peeling cubes requires a bit of skill and preparation beforehand, as the mixture solidifies really quickly once the salt is added, but even beginners don't have to worry about making them. If the mixture becomes too hard, you can warm it up again. In this case, a water bath is preferable, as the rapid heating in the microwave is fast, but the added essential oils suffer because they are heat sensitive. They may be released from the product more quickly or may decompose. When an oil mixture is added to a melted soap mass, some of the oil may still be on the surface of the soap mass after mixing. In this case, stir the mixture quickly once more and continue with the recipe. The added salt will then help get the oils into the soap mass. It's a good idea to have a silicone mould ready to use, as its elasticity will make it easier to remove the finished scrub cubes. You can also use other types of moulds, but the scrub cubes will be harder to remove from the rigid moulds (you can try lining them with baking paper). If the mixture is not sufficiently mixed before pouring into the mould , some of the oil may remain in the bottom of the mould. This does not prevent you from using the peeling cubes, you will just lose some of the oil.
Below we will introduce you to the different raw materials that make up the peeling cubes. We will look at their importance for the recipe and also talk about possible substitutes or substitutions.
The basis for the peeling is sea salt. In this case, finely ground sea salt was chosen; coarse sea salt has too large particles that could irritate the skin when using the product. Sea salt is great in that it contains many minerals and helps remove dead skin cells. It also acts as a natural preservative for the product. However, this is not the only salt that can be used to make exfoliating cubes. Finely ground Himalayan salt is also a good alternative, but you must take into account that Himalayan salt has pink in colour, and so this will also affect the final colour of the product if you use other colouring agents.Epsom salt is also a great choice. As it is quite finely ground and has a white colour, it will make your mica powders stand out so beautifully, and at the same time epsom salt is great for tired or sore muscles. You can also reach for other exfoliants besides salt. The classic white crystal sugar is popular, but feel free to reach for brown sugar as well. There is also ground pumice powder, for example, which is quite fine but has a greyish colour that may not suit everyone. There are also various ground shells that can be used as a scrub. However, when using them, add a preservative to the product as it could mould if left in contact with water for a long time, for example in a soap dish that has water left in it.You can also play around with the proportion of salt in the recipe. If you want firmer cubes, increase the salt and soap mass at the expense of the oil. Conversely, for softer cubes that you can use your fingers to scrub, reduce the amount of soap mass and add oil and salt.
The base that will combine all the ingredients in the recipe and provide the cleansing effects is the soap mass. You can reach for almost any kind of soap mass. Colourless or white soap masses are particularly suitable, letting the added mica powder stand out. If you can't decide on a particular soap mass, reach for masses that harden more slowly, which will make it easier to work with the scrub mixture. The amount of soap mass in the recipe affects the stiffness of the resulting scrub cubes, so you can make cubes to your exact specifications.
A great oil that can withstand heat treatment well is MCT caprylis. It is a neutral oil with no colour or smell, so it is great for combining with dyes and essential oils as it does not overpower their scent. It is also very resistant to oxidation, so your products will stay fresh longer. Apart from MCT caprylis, you can reach for any other vegetable oil. It is better to choose oils without a strong scent or colour, unless you want to add your own colouring and essential or fragrance oils to the product. For example, try fractionated coconut oil, which is colourless.
Essential oils have been used to scent the entire product. We have prepared four combinations of essential oils and mica powders. However, you can reach for any essential oil, but follow the dosage listed in the IFRA document for each oil to avoid an allergic reaction to too high a dose of oil.You can also add fragrance oils to the scrub cubes to offer an even wider range of scents, including fruity ones. There really is a wide range of scents to choose from and the scrub cubes are a great place to experiment with new scents.
Mica powder was used to colour the scrub cubes, specifically four different colours which provided pleasant pastel shades. You can add any amount of mica powder to the product to achieve your desired shade.Want something shinier? Feel free to increase the amount of cosmetic glitters in the product. You have a really wide range of different coloured glitters at your disposal. Alternatively, try two-colour pigments, which give the shimmer of two colours at the same time.
As mentioned, you can experiment with homemade recipes to achieve desired characteristics. However, many factors such as humidity, temperature, quality of ingredients and storage can affect the final result. Before using any raw material to make a cosmetic product, familiarize yourself with its properties, recommended dosage, storage conditions or safe handling. Any raw material may have the potential to cause an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals, so before using a product, we recommend that you find out if you suffer from an allergy to any of the raw materials or the overall product, e.g. by a skin test. If you have very sensitive or very acne-prone skin, or other skin and health problems, we recommend that you consult a medical professionalbefore applying a new product to your skin, whether it is a homemade cosmetic product, a pure raw material or a commercially available product.
