Kokum butter is one of the most stable and hardest vegetable butters available on the market. Yet it looks strange - it is rather crumbly and has a greyish tinge, with almost no smell. It comes from the fruit kernels of the Indian Garcinia indica tree. It is very popular in cosmetics because it remains solid at room temperature but starts to melt when it touches the skin, but only slightly. It is also used as a substitute for cocoa butter in the manufacture of chocolates. It has rejuvenating effects and strong moisturising properties.
It is characterised by a uniform triglyceride composition (it contains up to 80% SOS - stearic-oleic-stearic tryglycerides). It helps prevent skin dryness, heals cracked skin and helps heal ulcers. It is non-homogenic, so it does not clog pores. Helps stabilize emulsions. It has high oxidative stability. Melting point: 35-40 °C.It can be used in a variety of cosmetic products. When making soaps by the cold process, use a maximum of 5-10 % (the high stearic acid content accelerates the melt considerably). For the same reason, do not exceed 5% when making body lotions and conditioners (ideally 1-3%). For body butters and balms, you can use 5% or more. It combines well with both beeswax and candelilla wax and all kinds of oils. For more information on the quality of the product, please refer to the attestation, which we update every time we make a new batch. All raw materials supplied are of cosmetic quality, not suitable for internal use. Please use appropriate protective equipment when handling.
