Product description

Melissa Officinalisessential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves and flowering tops of the plant. The characteristic colour of the essential oil is a soft yellow with a pleasant lemony scent similar to fresh honeydew.

Lemon balm in essential oil form promotes sleep and relieves tension and nervousness. Thus, lemon balm has calming effects that are associated with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. The essential oil is never applied to the skin undiluted, but only in products or carrier oil (e.g. olive oil).

It helps with eczema and skin inflammation, but very sensitive skin may not tolerate lemon balm essential oil well. When applying, avoid areas close to the eyes and nose. Lemon balm essential oil is also suitable for making lip balms and ointments to soothe cold sores.

Pure lemon balm essential oil is very expensive because it is costly to produce. To produce 500 ml of pure essential oil, 3.5-7 tonnes of the plant must be harvested and distilled.
It is because of its high price that blends of different essential oils (most commonly lemongrass and citronella) are often sold under the name lemon balm, which when blended resemble its scent.

It is not suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women. The essential oils are pure and very easily absorbed into the skin. They are fat soluble.

All ingredients supplied are of cosmetic quality, not suitable for internal use. Please use appropriate protective equipment when handling.

WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?

Essential oils, or essential oils, are natural aromatic substances that come from different parts of plants - stems, roots, seeds, flowers, leaves, etc. They give plants their characteristic scent and also have medicinal and protective effects. They have a very positive effect on symptoms on a physical, emotional or mental level.

Their chemical composition is quite complicated. Essential oils are most often obtained from plants by distillation, extraction or pressing. Essential oils are highly concentrated and are applied directly to the skin only after dilution with carrier plant oils (almond, apricot, jojoba, etc.). The only exceptions are tea tree and lavender essential oils, which can be applied directly.

Use essential oils for inhalation or in your beauty products, we do not recommend consuming any essential oils of any brands.

Essential oils are fat soluble, so if you want to use them in products without oils and butters, use a solvent /solubilizer/.

HOW DO I USE ESSENTIAL OIL?

Cosmetic and soap making - the amount of essential oil needed depends on the specific recipe and the quantity being made.
Inhalation, steaming - drip a few drops of essential oil into an aromatherapy bottle, diffuser, or container of hot water.
Bath - mix drops of oil in a base oil /coconut, olive.../, in 1 dcl of milk or in a spoonful of honey, pour this mixture into the bath. The essential oils themselves are insoluble in water, the drops would float on the surface.
Massage - add a few drops of essential oil to cold pressed vegetable oil (approx 50 ml) and mix well. Pleasant massage.
Sauna - your choice of conifer, rosemary, eucalyptus, sage, mint or citrus scents. The amount of drops depends on the size of the sauna and your taste.

Essential oils are also popularly used in skin care, topical compresses, hair masks, oral care...
