Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate, chemically pure) is a universal raw material product intended for filling into cosmetic and food-grade packaging. It is particularly suitable for packing powdered, crystalline and free-flowing mixtures that require a dry, stable and hygienic environment. With a properly selected bottle, jar or pot, it helps maintain the quality and consistency of the product throughout the entire period of use.
Thanks to its chemical purity, it is ideal for professional and home formulations – from bath salts and scrubs, through relaxation blends to formulations requiring precise dosing and control over storage. The choice of high-quality packaging material is crucial for protection against moisture, contamination and degradation of the product, while the right container significantly facilitates handling and dosing.
Packaging intended for Epsom salt is compatible with various types of closures and dosing systems, such as screw closures, caps, dispensing applicators or sifter closures, depending on the selected parameters of the specific bottle, jar or pot. Combinations of packaging and closures that are created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we always recommend carrying out your own compatibility test – verifying sealing, dosing comfort, behavior of the packaging and closure in contact with the specific formulation and method of use.

For Epsom salt we recommend resealable packaging with good sealing – rigid jars, pots or bottles with a screw closure are practical. When choosing, pay attention to the type of closure, the ease of opening and re-closing, and the appropriate volume according to the intended use. For home use, wider openings are practical for convenient scooping, while for professional use, packaging that is easy to store and label is preferable. The packaging can be reused if hygiene principles are observed. Before each new filling, the packaging must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, ideally using a suitable alcohol, for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After washing, let the packaging dry completely, check the sealing and functionality of the closure and only then refill it to minimize the risk of contamination or degradation of the next product.
If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it according to the type of material listed in the parameter table for the specific product on the website. Most plastic packaging can be placed in the appropriate plastic container after emptying and rinsing, glass bottles and medicine bottles in the glass container, and paper components (for example outer boxes) in the paper container. Before recycling, remove product residues and, if possible, separate the closure from the body of the packaging to facilitate sorting in the recycling process.
You can store Epsom salt long-term in one packaging as long as it is dry, clean and has a well-sealing closure. It is important to prevent access of moisture, to store the container in a dry place and at a stable room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. If you notice damage to the closure, deformation of the packaging or repeated moistening of the contents, we recommend repackaging the Epsom salt into new suitable packaging to prevent product degradation.
