Product description

EMULSENSE HC is currently the only all-natural cationic tenside (surfactant, surfactant-cleaning agent) on the market without palm oil content with ECOCERT certification for use on hair. It is derived from fermentation and plant materials with sustainable green chemistry practices.

It takes the form of white to beige flakes that melt at 58°C.

It is added to the oil or water phase and can also be used in the one pot method (oil and water phase together). Heat it to 70°C in one of the phases and then mix both phases and stir until cool - no emulsification with a homogenizer is required.

Emulsense HC is suitable for both rinse-off and leave-on formulations. It is excellent in cream conditioners, hair masks and 2in1 products.

It is most commonly used as a conditioning and anti-static agent and emulsifier in cream conditioners. The active ingredient is a cationic surfactant with the bulk of the chains being C22. Its conditioning power is thus very similar to that of extended behenyl quats.

As it is a cationic surfactant, it has no cleansing or foaming capabilities. Hence, it needs to be combined with other tensides.

It is not compatible with anionic tensides (as are all other cationic tensides) and therefore non-ionic (glucosides such as coco glucoside, decyl and lauryl glucoside) and amphoteric tensides (betaines such as cocamidopropyl betaine or sodium cocoamphodiacetate) should be used in the formulation.
The production technology guarantees easy biodegradability, is harmless to aquatic organisms and is not irritating to eyes or skin.

Recommended dosage: 5-16%

the pH of the final product is usually around 3.5. To raise it, arginine should be used (0.2-0.4% is usually enough to raise the pH to 5.5), sodium hydroxide and baking soda do not work.

All raw materials supplied are cosmetic grade, not suitable for internal use. Use appropriate protective equipment when handling.
