If your favourite form of make-up is cream or a more solid balm, we have a solution for you. You too can make your own creamy mineral make-up. Simply choose from one of our five shades or mix your own, exactly to your liking. The resulting creamy mineral make-up is mainly used to even out skin tone, or to cover less pronounced imperfections, and has a lower covering power.
Below you will find a list of the ingredients you will need to create the base for the cream mineral make-up, i.e. pigments are not included in this list, as the quantities of these will of course vary according to the desired shade. You will also find the exact amounts of pigments to achieve one of our five ready-to-use shades in the article below, as well as instructions on how to go about preparing your own shade.
Below you will find a list of five shades to choose from. These shades can also be used as a starting point for making your own shade, as you can adjust them to suit your needs. The amount of pigments is always calculated per 30 g of base to make a creamy mineral make-up.
If you want to customise your make-up to your exact needs, here's how to do it. It might take a few tries and patience, but after a while you'll definitely find your shade. Again, be sure to note down the amounts of pigments used so that you can replicate your shade in the future. If you have already made powder mineral makeup and have noted the amount of pigments, you will need roughly a third of these pigments per 30g of cream mineral makeup to make cream mineral makeup, as cream makeup has a different composition than powder makeup and will behave differently on the skin (for example, it does not contain titanium dioxide and serecite mica powder) - this is also why the amounts of pigments used are different. At the same time, the final shade is also affected by the oils and butters used, so add the pigments in smaller amounts and check the shade on the skin from time to time.
Make it easy for yourself to make cream mineral make-up with our tips and tricks! If you want to adjust the shade of the cream make-up after mixing the powder and oil ingredients, you always have to spread the added powder ingredients thoroughly in a blender. Ideally, you should use a small amount of zinc oxide to which you add the pigment (s) of your choice, rub thoroughly in the concealer and incorporate into the oil mixture. This is particularly useful if you only need to add a little pigment, as you would not need to thoroughly spread the small amount of pigment in the enamel itself, and you would also find it difficult to work with such miniature quantities. You can also use a small electric coffee grinder instead of a grinder. Mixing or spreading the powdered ingredients thoroughly is essential so that there are no places in the final make-up where there will be unmixed pigment. If you want to use the product on hot days and are worried about it melting, increase the proportion of beeswax in the recipe slightly. It is a good idea to dry all containers thoroughly before use, as water will cause problems in the recipe. If your make-up hardens during preparation before you pour it into the container, put it in the water bath again.
Below you will find more detailed descriptions of the properties of each ingredient, or information on how you can change their representation in the recipe or substitute them completely.
Neutral oils are great for creating a good base for make-up. These oils contain fatty acids isolated from coconut, palm kernel and palm oil. Because of this, this oil has a high stability and so will last for quite a long time fresh, that is, without significant oxidation. In addition, it is a dry form of oil, so it does not leave the skin unnecessarily oily. At the same time, it has no smell.Of course, you can replace MCT Caprylis with any other vegetable oil. Or vice versa, MCT Caprylis can replace other oils in the recipe. This is especially worthwhile if you will be storing your makeup in places that experience higher temperature fluctuations or will be exposed to the sun. This is because MCT Caprylis is more stable than conventional oils and hardly oxidizes.
A great nourishing oil for your skin is cottonseed oil. It is obtained by pressing the seeds of the cotton plant. It is added in the recipe for its moisturizing properties. It is usually well tolerated and absorbed by the skin. Moreover, the refined version of this oil is free from fragrance and some color compounds, which will thus not interfere with your makeup.Cottonseed oil is great for dry and chapped skin. Again, you can replace it with vegetable oils or use it as a substitute for the other oils in the recipe.
The gorgeous orange-coloured rosehip oil is a highly prized substance rich in vitamins, carotenoids and minerals. It provides great nourishment for the skin. Rosehip seed oil is slightly lighter than rosehip fruit oil, but still has a high proportion of antioxidants and valuable fatty acids. The lighter colour is particularly suitable because rosehip oil has less potential to affect the colour of the final product.Again, you can substitute rosehip oil with other vegetable oils, or use a higher proportion of rosehip oil in place of the other oils in the recipe.
Shea butter is a very popular ingredient in natural cosmetics. Again, it contains vitamins and minerals, plus it effectively nourishes and moisturises dry skin. In our recipe, it is also used to obtain the final firm consistency of the product. You can choose a refined or unrefined version of shea butter to make a creamy make-up. The unrefined version has a characteristic light yellow colour and a delicate nutty scent. If this smell bothers you, reach for the unrefined version, which is also more resistant to oxidation. You can substitute other vegetable butters for shea butter, but be aware of the change in consistency due to the different melting point. Increasing the proportion of shea butter in the recipe will give you a firmer make-up with a thicker consistency.
Beeswax is the substance that ensures the strength of cream make-up even at higher temperatures. In addition to the beautiful scent of natural beeswax, this wax is rich in vitamins and minerals. Increasing the proportion of wax in the recipe will make the make-up stiffer and less likely to melt during hot summer days.Of course, you can substitute beeswax with another wax intended for cosmetic use (do not use waxes that are exclusively for candle making). Such waxes are vegan and have the same properties as beeswax. If you omit the wax from the recipe , the makeup will be more fluid and the texture will change.
Cocoa butter is a popular butter for skin products, especially because it melts immediately on contact with the skin and nourishes it intensely. What's more, if you choose the unrefined version, you can look forward to a pleasant chocolate scent. Cocoa butter, among other things, firms the product and gives it a characteristic creamy texture. You can substitute other butters for the cocoa butter, but this will also change the stiffness and consistency of the final product. If you have dry skin, you can slightly increase the proportion of cocoa butter, which will provide effective nourishment.
The basic covering oxide in our recipe is zinc oxide. This is a white powder that combines well with coloured oxides as it makes the colours stand out. It also makes it easier to apply make-up to the skin and slightly increases the covering properties.Changing the representation of zinc oxide in the recipe will be reflected by an overall change in the shade of the product. Therefore, if you want to lighten the make-up, you can do this by adding small amounts of zinc oxide.
To prolong the freshness of oils, antioxidants are essential, including vitamin E. In this case, we have chosen tocopheryl acetate, which is more stable than pure tocopherol and can withstand some heat stress. Thanks to vitamin E, fats and oils take longer to oxidize, so you can enjoy your product for longer.

The essential pigments for achieving the desired makeup shade are iron oxides, specifically the three colour variants of iron oxide. Yellow, brown and red pigments allow you to customize your makeup shade to suit your needs. The advantage is that, unlike mica powders, these oxides do not have glitter particles in them, so they are just right for making facial makeup.
Green chromium oxide is good to have on hand if your skin is prone to redness and you want a makeup that helps eliminate these problems. Chromium oxide is also good for making green concealers for breakouts or other skin imperfections.
The last pigment is blue ultramarine, which is suitable for skin with cool undertones. It won't make your makeup look orange on your skin, blue ultramarine will help even out its shade. However, dispense it slowly so that your makeup doesn't take on a grey tinge.
As mentioned, you can experiment with homemade recipes to achieve the desired properties. However, many factors such as humidity, temperature, quality of ingredients and storage can affect the final result. Before using any raw material to make a cosmetic product, familiarize yourself with its properties, recommended dosage, storage conditions or safe handling. Any raw material may have the potential to cause an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals, so before using a product, we recommend that you find out if you suffer from an allergy to any of the raw materials or the overall product, e.g. by a skin test. If you have very sensitive or very acne-prone skin, or other skin and health problems, we recommend that you consult a medical professional before applying a new product to your skin, whether it is a homemade cosmetic product, a pure raw material or a commercially available product.
