Nourish your lips during the summer and give them great colour and shine with the lip balm or lip gloss we'll create together in this how-to blog post. The best part is that you can mix the colour you like yourself. And it's all made with natural ingredients. Let's do it.
Before we get started with making lip gloss or lip balm, let's talk about extracts. Why extracts? Many cosmetics contain extracts (concentrates) due to their healing properties. An extract is an extract from plants or parts of plants usually prepared from dried plant parts. It should be noted that not every part of the plant contains the same active substances, e.g. substances contained in the kernels of a fruit may not be contained in the skins of the fruit. Thanks to modern technology, laboratories are able to concentrate the medicinal properties of plants. the effects of the extract do not differ from those of the herb. Plant extracts are liquid, semi-solid, or solid. For solids, the extraction is done with the help of solvents that evaporate throughout the process, resulting in a pure powder without chemical additives.
There are two types of extracts: standardised and broad-spectrum.With a standardised extract, the content of the active substances in a given plant is globally standardised, which means that anywhere in the world will have the same amount of these substances. Extracts have a very precise chemical composition, how much and what is in it. We can recognize an extract in a cosmetic product by the fact that the name of the plant is accompanied by the percentage of the active ingredient - Ginseng true extract from the root with 80% ginsenosides and so on.With a broad-spectrum extract, it is impossible to determine exactly how much and what substances are found in a given batch. For example, it is labeled 10:1, 40:1, 5:1 and so on. This designation indicates how many kilograms of raw material have been used for 1 kg of extract. Thus, for 5:1, 5 kg of base material was used from which 1 kg of extract was extracted. However, this does not mean that the extract is 10 times stronger. Not every part of the base material has the same proportion of active ingredients. Therefore, the extract will never be 10 times stronger. Unfortunately it is not even possible to determine how many times stronger it is. It is said that extracts are usually 7 - 8 times stronger.

One way to add color while adding vitamins and antioxidants to your lip balm is to use grape skin extract.Grape skin extract is a major source of photonutrients, which are beneficial in maintaining heart health, as well as vitamins and minerals for overall body health. It is a great source of vitamin Cand antioxidants, so it is a good anti-inflammatory in your products. Likewise, in products, it supports immunity and overall skin health. The extract is in the form of a fine red powder that also serves as a natural dye. It is water soluble.Speaking of vitamin delivery, we opted for almond oil for the production of the gloss and cream balm. Almond oil is one of the essential oils in the production of cosmetics. It is the carrier oil of many products and combines well with other oils. Almond oil contains vitamins A and E (natural antioxidants), minerals (calcium, magnesium potassium). It moisturizes the skin and is not absorbed so quickly, which makes it an ideal ingredient for cosmetics. It is particularly suitable for dry, sensitive and irritated skin. It softens itand revitalizes, restores and nourishes.
